Harvey & Company initiated the acquisition and subsequently invested in Sun and Skin Care Research, Inc. (“SSCR”), a leading manufacturer of branded and private label sun and skin care products sold throughout the U.S. and in key markets around the world. Founded in 1989 by Mr. Gary DeAngelo, SSCR manufactures a broad range of sunscreen and skin lotion products marketed under the Ocean Potion and No-Ad brand names. SSCR is recognized globally for its product quality, price and innovation.

Industry veteran Steve Taylor was brought in to join the company as CEO. Harvey & Company’s existing relationship with Mr. Taylor was pivotal to completing the transaction, and he will play a critical role in the strategic direction of the company going forward. Mr. Taylor brings an unparalleled background in the personal consumer goods space, having spent 25 years in multiple leadership roles with Johnson & Johnson, including senior roles with brands such as Neutrogena, Roc, Aveeno, Piz Buin, and Johnson’s Baby. Together with a Southeast based private equity firm, Harvey & Company provided Mr. DeAngelo with significant liquidity while allowing for him and key members of the management team to retain a meaningful stake in the business and to participate in the continued growth of the company.
